Vintage promotional matchbox from the 1980's advertising the ill fated Vista International Hotel (operated by Hilton International) which was located at 3 World Trade Center (WTC 3) in Lower Manhattan in New York City.
The matchbook has 'Vista International' on the front cover in gold lettering. The inside of the matchbook says "At The World Trade Center New York, A Hilton International Hotel". The matches are dark brown with gold tips.
The matchbook is in very good condition. All matches are intact and the "strike pad" is unstruck (see photos).
The 22 story (plus 6 basement levels), 825 room, hotel opened in 1981 and was built right next to the World Trade Center's North Tower (1 WTC). The hotel was severely damaged in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and repairs took over a year. It was sold to Marriott in 1995. It was destroyed on September 11, 2001 (9/11) when sections of the collapsing North Tower fell on its roof.
